There's still time to catch some winter species

Hope your BIG YEAR is off to a BIG start! Despite the unusually harsh winter weather, it has been a fantastic winter of birding here in Rhode Island (as is typical). With lots of reports of Snowy Owls, Snow Buntings, Barrow’s Goldeneye, Rough-legged Hawks and other winter specialties here’s hoping your list is growing.

If not, you have a limited time to get these species before they exit the state for the year so get birding! The tail end of the winter season is a great time to bird due to the warming weather and the many lingering species. But don’t wait!
